The Unfinished Files

The Unfinished Files and Eagle Cold Case & Missing Person Institute is a not-for-profit organization created to advocate and investigate, on behalf of victims and families of crime.  

The Unfinished Files is a podcast and television programming, hosted by award winning television and radio personality Tyler Ryan.

The Unfinished Files examines and investigates cold and missing persons cases from across the Country, telling their stories on The Unfinished.  The difference between The Unfinished and other true crime or cold case programs is that the majority of cases that are discussed are actively being investigated by ECC & MPI and The Unfinished Investigative Team, free of charge.

The Organization is volunteer based, with the experienced  investigators, Board Members, and others donating their time.

                     OPPORTUNITIES 

UNFINISHED FILES INTERN (Unpaid)

Spring 2020 / Summer 2020

SUMMARY:

Unfinished Files interns will have the opportunity to work directly with producers, host, law enforcement, victims and families, and others related to the creation of the show and content.  Interns will also have the opportunity to gain "hands on" experience with all levels of producing a content based program and blog, including social media, research, writing, presentation, and editing, all while helping the mission of solving to solve cold and missing person cases.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Working directly with the team and independently, Intern will:

  • Research cold and missing person cases, utilizing the Internet, victims and families, law enforcement, and other sources to provide facts on a cases

  • Develop and maintain social media plan, as well as create and schedule posts and other content
  • Work directly with private investigators, law enforcement, victims, and in some cases suspects
  • Work directly with show producers on writing scripts, blogs, and other content 
  • Review and edit audio and video for distribution
  • Work with show host(s) on presentation, style, and story telling
  • Work with digital team to distribute podcast and other content to various outlets

MINIMUM COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

Must demonstrate aptitude and willingness to learn about the complex nature of working with true crime, cold cases, law enforcement, writing, story telling, and presentations

  • Possess a basic understanding of various social media platforms, and online content practices, utilization of the Internet as a resource

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate English

  • Possess a basic understanding of story telling, editing, and interpersonal communication

  • Strong time management skills, self initiative and a desire to help with the overall mission

ADDITIONAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE: (What we like to see - NOT Required)

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Canva, Google Documents,etc

  • Experience with blogging, podcast delivery platforms

  • Experience with audio / video editing platforms

 

HOURS:

A minimum of 10 hours per week for the duration of the internship, which can be extended past traditional semester timelines.  Hours will vary, depending on projects, student's schedule, and needs of the Unfinished Files.   Some hours may be completed outside of office / studio, depending on scope of project.

VOLUNTEERS - Unfinished Files Program

The Unfinished Files is looking for volunteers to work directly with producers, host, law enforcement, victims and families, and others related to the creation of the show and content.  Volunteers will assist with research, interviews, and writing the show.  Volunteers may be directly involved with the investigative team on active investigations.  Unfinished Files volunteers will help on all levels of producing a content based program and blog, including social media, research, writing, presentation, and editing, all while helping the mission of solving to solve cold and missing person cases.

VOLUNTEERS - Eagle Cold Case and Missing Persons

SUMMARY:

Unfinished Files / Eagle Cold Case and Missing Person Institute is looking for volunteers to work directly for the mission of providing closure, peace, and justice to victims and families of violent crimes and missing persons.  Volunteers will serve in a wide variety of roles, ranging from data collection and input, fundraising, research, business operations, interviews, report writing, research, performance and presentations, and many other roles. 

 

UF and ECC-MPI work directly with victims, families, law enforcement, and in some cases suspects of crime.  

MINIMUM COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

Must demonstrate aptitude and willingness to learn about the complex nature of working with true crime, cold cases, law enforcement, writing, story telling, and presentations

  • Possess a basic understanding of various social media platforms, and online content practices, utilization of the Internet as a resource
